Current education policy nationwide provides each school district autonomy to accept credits towards high school completion or college admission for courses completed by homeschool standards. GSN's experience is that most schools will accept GSN's Online Homeschool Courses provided the parent is able to demonstrate that their student:
• Learned what they were supposed to learn.
•
Their courses were equivalent to those in traditional schools in both content & assessment.
• The parent or teacher had the tools necessary to properly evaluate student academic achievement
To assist schools in evaluating credits earned using GSN’s Online Homeschool curriculum, we recommend the parent provide the following documents to the school.
1. Homeschool Education Portfolio. Parents can maintain a record of their student’s entire homeschool education.
2. Homeschool Portfolio Letter: Schools can better award credits when they understand the academic equivalency of courses completed using GSN’s Online Homeschool Curriculum
3. Course Academic Achievement: Print out the “Lessons” page for each course completed.
4. Course Description: Schools have different titles for courses. Print out the description for each course completed to assist schools in recognizing your student’s academic achievement.
