Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and you may be waiting patiently for a little rest and relaxation. But you may have younger children at home, or are a single parent, or simply want to spend some fun time with your kids on Mother’s Day. There are plenty of activities you can do that may cater to you a little more, but are still fun for the kids too!
Spa Day
Nothing screams (or whispers!) relaxation like a true spa day, with all the massages, oils, and foot soaks you only dream of! Rather than taking a day to yourself for a spa treatment, you can include your kids as well. They may also benefit from a nice, relaxing day to unwind, especially if they are a little older. You both can get a facial, or a pedicure and manicure, or all three! It is a great way to play catch up and talk about what is going on in each of your worlds, and be able to bond a little more.
The Movies
If you haven’t seen a movie in forever, then taking everyone out to the theater would be a great time for all. It gives you a chance to sit back and relax, while also being entertained! You can pick a chick flick or the newest action movie and shut your brain off from all the things you have to do and simply enter a different world for a few hours. And don’t forget to load up on plenty of popcorn and sweet candies!
Shopping Trip
If you’ve been putting off getting that new pair of jeans, what better time to hit up the mall than on Mother’s Day? If your kids are a little older, bring them along too! You can get your favorite drink in the food court and then make your rounds at all the stores you need (and some that you don’t). Make sure to spoil yourself at least a little and get something small or large that day.
Reading
Yes, you read that right! Even reading can be done in a group setting! If your teens (or younger kids) love to read, gather around in your living room or other cozy space for a few hours of reading. Light some candles, make some coffee or tea, and get ready to lounge. You can even put on some light jazz or other coffeehouse-style of music for a little ambiance.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you hard working moms out there!
