Most people can agree that Fall is a spectacular time of year; the leaves are beginning to change, there’s a crispness to the air without being bitterly cold, and sweater weather is just around the corner. For some parents, though, Fall can be a little stressful with the start of a new school year and all the drama and emotions your kids may be feeling with starting school again as well. The best remedy for that, though, is throwing a Fall Festival for your family to help celebrate the new!
Time to Look Forward
Although all the new coursework might feel burdensome to your children, remind them of how far they have come and how they are preparing for their very own future. It can be easy to get caught up in the daily nonsense that is life, and it can’t be more true than for children. School can feel like a drag sometimes and they just finished having a break and having some fun. Help everyone get out of the hum drums by having a fun fall festival where everyone can relax, eat, and unwind while thinking about the remaining part of the year and what they hope to accomplish, all while indulging in some fall favorites!
The Necessities
To pull off a Fall Festival, you’ll want to look the part! That goes for both attire and decorating the house! You can go all out or keep it simple, whichever fits your lifestyle the best. Decorate with leaves, garland, and even white lights around the house, and of course, don’t forget the pumpkins! A good Fall Festival will consist of a warm and hearty dinner, a bonfire, and a delectable dessert, more often than not, s’mores by the bonfire! You can also include fun activities if you want, especially if your children are younger. These can be decorating the pumpkins themselves, or the house, or even writing a goal they want to accomplish by the end of the year, and placing it in a jar they can decorate. A Fall Festival is all about celebrating the season and relaxing, so pick what works best for your household.
Cater to What You Want
Depending on how cold it is, you can make soup, a stew, a roast, a casserole, or anything warm and hearty that your family will enjoy. You can eat at the table with lots of candles lit, or even barbecue outside if the weather is slightly more mild. You can serve pumpkin spice lattes, or a food with the warm spices to help welcome Fall, as well as drinking apple cider or eating a fresh apple pie.
Warmth and comfort are the name of the game when planning a Fall Festival, so have fun and make it your own!
