May is the month of grads, whether you have a child graduating kindergarten or high school, there will most likely be many parties to attend over the next month, or even into June. There can be many different ways you host a party or attend, depending on how many kids of your own are graduating and how many parties your kids are going to!
Group Party
Depending on who is graduating from what grade, you may want to do one big party for your kid and their friends. You can partner up with a few of your kids’ friend’s parents to make a big to-do. This can help everyone out on both time and money, since everyone can go to one party for a few kids, and still have a great time. You can play the host or have it at another grad’s place, and simply help out with the logistics of the event. This can be bringing food, supplies, decorations, and more. And you can arrive early to help decorate and set up chairs and games. It’s a great way to feel more inclusive and have more of a party vibe for everyone as it will produce a big group of kids and parents!
Single Party
If your kid wants a singular party or other parents want to hold their own, then throwing your own shindig can be just as much fun! Talk with your kid and see what they would like for a party. If your child is younger, they may want a themed party, while your teen may want something with less balloons and decorations, and maybe more cozy activities. See what they would like and see if they’d be willing to help decorate as well. Your younger kid can color pictures to hang up on the walls, and help hang up balloons. See what they would like to eat as well, and they can help you shop and prep for a lot of the items.
Location
Depending on the invite list, you can put your teen in charge of making sure their friends know when and where. Make sure you keep up with them in terms of how many people are coming, and to make sure they don’t go crazy and invite all their classmates! You can talk with your kid on whether they want to have the party at home, or if you want to rent a space, whether it’s indoors at a specific place, like an arcade or an indoor trampoline place. Or you can rent some space at a park and be out in nature partying down until the sunset!
Happy Graduation!
