We are closely approaching the half-way mark of summer, and before you know it, the beach bum and lounging days will be done and it will be back to school. But before you pack away the shorts and beach towels, take advantage of these last few weeks with some fun summertime activities with your kids!

Backyard Fun

There’s something to be said for an impromptu backyard romp! Grab your kids and go outside for a game, whether it be football, soccer, baseball, or even just throwing a ball around for no reason! It’s always nice to get outside and soak up some sunshine for a little bit. If you’re going to be out there for a little while, be sure to slather on some sunscreen!

You can also play basic games, especially if you have smaller kids at home. Duck, Duck, Goose, or hide and seek are always fun go-to games to play. You can also take advantage of any sidewalks or driveways, and have an afternoon of drawing in chalk. You can also make hop scotch and play that with your children.

Summer Treats

Nobody can resist the cool summertime treats that taste even better after being outside! Breaking out the ice cream and making sundaes is bound to be a treat! You can even make your own popsicles for a fun, homemade cool down treat. There are plenty of recipes for any combo of fruit that your children like. You can get fun-shaped popsicle holders or use traditional ones and let them freeze. It’s a great way to cool down after being outside in the heat. You can also make smoothies! You can use a variety of fruits and liquids to make something for every picky child. You can use a combination of fresh and frozen fruit, and add juice to help mix it up. Pour the smoothies into fun cups with curly straws for extra fun!

Evening Activities

If you played out in the sun all day or just want to avoid the UV rays for a little bit, waiting until dusk to start is fun is just as smart! You can have bonfires in the backyard and invite neighbors or your kid’s friends. Make sure to bring all the fixings for some delicious s’mores! You can take a walk around the neighborhood as it cools down, or play a quick game before it’s completely dark. You can also show your kids fireflies, and watch as they try to catch them in their hands!
