Whether you’re a homeschool parent or your child is temporarily learning online, you’re always looking for ways to help them get the most out of school. Here are a few ways to supplement the remote learning process.

Connect with Parents Online

Sometimes the most valuable insight is right next door. Talk to neighbors, friends, and family members who also have children in online school. They have probably come up with some unique ideas to get the most out of the situation. Share some of these ideas with your child and see if any excite them.

Set Up a Designated Workspace

This may be simple, but creating a designated work area is important for learning. Many children are used to working in a classroom and playing or relaxing at home. It can be difficult for them to focus on education if they’re on the couch next to the TV. Set up a corner or their room or your office that only serves as their homeschool station. When they sit down, they’ll be prepared to work and pay attention to class.

Set Up an Online Study Group

Just like talking with other parents can be helpful for you, giving your child the ability to talk with classmates can be helpful for them. Set up an online study group or socialization group that your child can meet with a few times a week. This will allow your child to bounce ideas off of other people their age and feel less isolated during this time.

Find Fun Online Games & Videos

There are hundreds of fun learning resources online these days. Do some digging and see if you can find some YouTube videos, games, or educational shows that cover a subject your child is learning in school. This brings a new way for them to learn and will help them stay engaged.

Print Some Of Your Materials

Staring at a computer screen all day can be physically and mentally difficult for your child. When possible, buy physical textbooks or print out learning materials to give them a break from the computer. It may also help them comprehend the information better.
